The University of Wisconsin-Madison's College Library has a coffee house and a cafe, but fewer books than it did five years ago. Still, the library is thriving, according to an Associated Press article, with 1.2 million visitors a year. It has adapted to meet the changing study and research habits of students, who now do much less of their research by reading paper journals and much more online.
"Some people think it doesn't look like a library unless it's got spines," said Ken Frazier, UW-Madison director of libraries. "I think it looks like a modern library." For further information, read the full article on the Chicago Tribune website.
