Strong school leadership needed, says OECD report

Good teachers are the number one factor for excellence in student achievement, but next comes high-quality leadership, according to a new publication from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). With that in mind, governments must do more to recruit and train the best people to run schools.

In today's education world, school principals have a vital role to play in modernizing entire education systems, says Improving School Leadership, a two-volume report drawing on evidence from 19 countries. Volume 1 focuses on Policy and Practice, and Volume 2 focuses on Case Studies on System Leadership.
