Television show to target toddlers and reading

A new PBS show, Toddling Toward Reading, looks at the critical years before kindergarten and what educators are doing to get toddlers on the road to reading. Hosted by singer Reba McEntire, the newest episode of Reading Rockets: Launching Young Readers series, will focus on the Reach Out and Read national health initiative, which incorporates literacy development into well-baby pediatric visits; a child-parent preschool center in Chicago that helps at-risk parents learn how to support their children's reading; as well as other model programs.

Toddling Toward Reading will air on PBS stations across the country beginning in September and will be available beginning September 1 on www.readingrockets.org.
