Mount Vernon schools embrace boxer’s literacy program

Starting this fall, the Mount Vernon city school district will roll out a literacy program created by boxing legend Muhammad Ali that is aimed at motivating struggling readers. The program, Go the Distance, installs classroom library collections of fiction and nonfiction books that share the common themes of confidence building, determination, respect and other values.
