Czech government officials have announced that US$46.4 million promised to the Education Ministry for 2007 wont be coming. The money was to go toward improving the availability and quality of Internet and computer resources in state schools. The news came as a shock to the ministry, which called the whole mess unbearable and unacceptable. Dana Krupičková, principal at the Z Libčická school in Prague 8, however, said this isnt the first time education funding has been slashed unexpectedly. Krupičková said her school had been planning to obtain four more computers this year. The school also had to cut its computertraining program for teachers, she said.
