Report calls for global investment in teachers

Governments around the world must improve salaries and working conditions in education if they are to avert a predicted shortage of 18 million teachers and achieve the goal of education for all people by 2015. That is one of the key messages of a major report released by Education International to mark World Teachers' Day, celebrated each year on October 5.
