What's up with e-books?

More and more reference texts are online, along with news and other types of information. But just like the domed cities envisioned in the 1960s, the e-book as a leisure option has yet to take hold the way it was once predicted to. A Boston Globe columnist reviews the trends and wonders: When, if ever, will printed books wither away?
