NZ study: Lack of respect for teachers, even within the ranks

A study commissioned by the New Zealand Ministry of Education and the national Teachers’ Council found that while teachers were generally positive about the core aspect of their job — their influence on student achievement — they felt “overloaded, inadequately rewarded, undervalued, and insufficiently supported” in many respects. They also tended to share the public’s low opinion of certain of their colleagues. Get details at the Stuff website.
