G-8: $50 billion aid boost for Africa includes support for education

The G-8 summit has concluded with a promised $50 billion boost in aid for Africa by 2010. In their communiqué, summit leaders announced that they would work to support UNESCO’s Education for All agenda in Africa, including continued support for the Fast Track Initiative (FTI) and efforts “to help FTI-endorsed countries...to pursue their sustainable educational strategies.” A full report appears in The Gleneagles Communiqué.
